Göran Darius Hildebrand is Director of the Strabismus, Paediatric and Neuro-Ophthalmology Services at St Gallen Cantonal Hospital in Switzerland and previously of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Oxford University Hospitals in the United Kingdom.

After studying medicine, biology and history at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and in the USA, he completed his ophthalmology residency training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, followed by three Fellowships in Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Cataract Surgery.

He is a former President of the Sir Charles Sherrington Medical Society at Oxford between 1995-1997. He currently serves on the EU Eye Advisory Committee to the European Medicines Agency and the Joint ESA-EPOS-EBO Examination Board for the subspecialty Fellowship examination in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

He has led the European Paediatric Ophthalmological Society as President since 2017.
